RECOMMENDATIONS: The Committee is recommended to agree on the appointment of a Liberal Democrat councillor as a second representative on the Police and Crime Panel for a one year period |

1. Supporting Information
1.1 Each of the 15 borough, county, district and unitary authorities across Sussex appoint one representative to the Sussex Police and Crime Panel. At the County Council meeting held on 25 May 2021, Councillor Standley was appointed as the County Council’s representative on the Panel.
1.2 In addition to a representative from each authority in Sussex, the Constitution of the Police and Crime Panel allows for additional local authority members to be appointed to address any imbalance in political proportionality. Any such appointments will be for a one year period. In order to achieve political proportionality it is proposed by West Sussex County Council, which provides democratic services support to the Panel, that for 2022/23 Brighton & Hove City Council should appoint a Conservative Councillor as a second representative and East and West Sussex County Councils each appoint a Liberal Democrat as a second representative. The Committee is asked to consider its nomination for the one additional East Sussex place on the Panel. Councillor Tutt has proposed that Councillor Murphy be nominated as the Council’s second representative on the Police and Crime Panel
3. Conclusion
3.1 The Committee is recommended to nominate a Liberal Democrat councillor as the Council’s second representative on the Police and Crime Panel for a one year period.
